Does anyone know how three FHP troopers got involved and ended up PIT’ing a Flee/Elude vehicle we were following covertly on I4 in the Lakeland area?

It’s amazing how those guys magically show up on our calls, even after the policy changes that came from the Ybor crash.

They probably still have the Big Dick Energy thread going with them on WhatsApp. This keeps happening on B cycle so someone on a B cycle SAC squad is notifying them. Whoever it is should be fired. The old D3 LT who is now a captain who gave them the radios that caused the ybor incident should have been demoted immediately.

I’ll tell you why…because D3 SAC has been rogue for years now and never held accountable. The ybor incident was the tragic, yet inevitable, result of staff looking the other way while they chased cars into other counties where 90% of the time it ended in a crash. Only to say “no one was following”
Don’t even get me started on air service….

Amen. All for everyone working Ybor that night left to deal with the aftermath and no prior knowledge FHP had our radios and were flying into Ybor chasing a car.

Nobody at the scene on I4 knew how FHP got involved. The other agencies that were involved said they didn’t call them. It was a surprise to everyone. So either FHP has an amazing ability to spot a vehicle 20 minutes after a BOLO that doesn’t ask for their assistance, or someone is still talking to them.

It could be a SAC officer, but my money is on the Captain who started all this crap and has FHP on speed dial. Hopefully the D1 Major can rein him in so the BS that was happening in D3 doesn’t spread.

You’d think the Ybor incident would have been enough to put an end to it, but things don’t change when people aren’t held accountable. We’re lucky that truck stopped rolling when it did. It would’ve been another tragedy if it went into oncoming traffic.

Changes to TPD policy really can’t affect how FHP handles business. If they get a bolo for a fleeing vehicle, they’re going to drop everything to look for it. It’s written in their policy that way.

Yeah, that’s what I’d say too if I was still talking to them after being told not to.

They just have an amazing ability to have several troopers in the right place at the right time for fleeing vehicles. Not quite the same when there’s a S4 on the interstate and there’s nobody available…
