This site is being relaunched due to popular demand and for the benefit of law enforcement. The open format is essential in effecting positive change in the law enforcement profession. That said, we understand that a level of anonymity must be offered in exchange for law enforcement officers to post about work related issues without the fear of repercussion. This common sense approach was validated in 2005 when the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (in addition to other agencies) sued to obtain the identities of posters on LEOAFFAIRS.COM. We fought the HCSO case using First Amendment Attorney Luke Lirot for roughly a year and won all along the way, even after ending up in Florida's 2nd District Court of Appeal. In the end, the 2nd DCA denied HCSO's appeal by finding no error with either the conclusions reached by the lower court or any of their reasoning. What did the lower court rule? That anonymous speech, including posts on a website, is protected by the Constitution! Thus, LEO Affairs (while operated by founders Chip DeBlock and Jim Preston from 2002-2012) has never been forced or compelled by subpoena to give up any user's IP or identifying information. We plan to keep it that way!

You have the ability to post on this site anonymously or as a registered user. We do NOT record or log your IP address and, if we obtain a subpoena requesting a user's IP address, we will NOT have an IP address to give them. Likewise, the server company we use in Switzerland hides IP addresses as well. As a content provider, we enjoy immunity from information (i.e. posts) provided by another person as per Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934. That said and although we do not record a user's IP information, you are ultimately responsible for what you post. We reserve the right to moderate and remove postings that violate our Terms of Use. If someone observes content on this site that violates our Terms of Use, we encourage them to notify us ASAP.

For those paranoid souls who may work for federal agencies or for whatever reason perceive extreme risk, we offer you the following solutions:

Use the Tor Browser in order to conceal your IP addresses and locations

Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or public wi-fi access
