Those results are long gone. They never mattered. At first, for a split second, I thought they actually cared. Then I thought it may have been a CALEA requirement to ensure there was good morale. In the end, it was all just to be able to check a box in the CALEA accreditation. It cost them some money to get, but now they can apply for all those grant dollars.
It’s a "Check-the-Box" Requirement
CALEA standards (specifically those in the
15.0 Planning and Research and
22.0 Personnel chapters) require agencies to conduct regular assessments of their own internal processes. Many agencies use employee surveys to prove they are:
- Involving employees in the planning process (Standard 15.2.2).
- Evaluating the effectiveness of their own policies.
- Identifying "organizational issues" before they become liabilities.
All they needed to do was have the survey. Typical bureaucratic crap that does not belong in LEO work. I’m sure Q-corner lets them keep that box checked. And we thought they actually cared. Has Q corner or the surveys brought a bout any change?
I heard all the survey results were printed out on toilet paper at $1000 a roll and that’s what they use in the SOC bathrooms. Bonus, if you are the major that made your deputies lives miserable for a year by forcing stats on critically short handed squads or face a write up, you get the extra soft rolls.
