I know most of us do not care for Creative Loafing, but you have to give them credit they will go after the tough stories. They were the first to get the BWC of Tampa's Mary O'Connor and that started the downfall.

Btw, love us or hate us, Creative Loafing is always looking to get to the bottom of stuff like this. Obviously, we (and other news orgs) browse here for anything relevant to the public, but if you've got something you want us to investigate and you don't want to share it publicly you can reach me via encrypted messaging on Signal @valeriesmith.64 or via secure email at valeriejeansmith@proton.me .

I’m tired of the HCSO’s lies and BS. Blindly siding with police leaders causes the very things that makes front line cops / detectives look bad. Let’s not forget, we are citizens too. If Creative Loafing are willing to expose this stuff, then they are cool with me. Elites are looking out for themselves. Fooling deputies into thinking they are on our side. In the end, deputies and citizens are getting screwed. Like a dog fighting ring. No matter which dog wins or loses. People pick a side, watch the fight, argue over which is better or worse, they use the dog fight as entertainment, and in the end… The house always wins the big bucks.

Don’t blindly side with anyone just to get their approval, climb the ladder, run the rat race, try be one of them, or claw to be a part of the elite. Just do your primary job. Stick with the law and the constitution. Leave the money and political scams to the fast trackers and elites.

Yet, the squads are critically short handed. Maybe everyone has it all wrong. Maybe it’s not the police vs the public. Maybe it’s the citizens and police vs the crooked police leaders? How much do you want to bet this is not their only way they get kickbacks.

They get a budget for the amount of deputies they should have. When we are critically short handed and have open deputy positions, they still get that money. Where does it go?

Bob Buckhorn received money in the past from the company that installed the red-light cameras, Danny Alvarez, the State Rep and Tampa PBA attorney received money from the GEO Group, the largest private prison company in the U.S.

I should not be surprised by Chad getting money from them.

Would be nice to see a public records request for command staff raises the last 4 years compared to what the rank and file received. I remember when the Sheriff himself told everyone they were getting a raise only to give a stipend. Oddly enough the command staff was taken off the pay scale at that time. Or look into command staff and parade vehicle expenditures.

Plus why colonels and above assigned multiple luxury vehicles valued in excess of 100K? Why would executive staff need to. E assigned three or four or more luxury cars. Like fully loaded Ford Raptors? Top of the line F250’s? They are not even trying to hide this stuff.

Why is the DeBartolo LLC contracted to do the renovations in the new SOC?
