Ah, the headlines tell the story and they are largely UNANSWERED by the rank and file Minneapolis cops. Officially the Minneapolis PD says they are understaffed and unable to backup ICE agents, which is why ICE has to roll with Border Patrol in order to handle protestors and activists (Border Patrol is basically doing the job police everywhere else in the country are doing). However, the moment an ICE or Border Patrol agent shoots someone because MPD was not on the scene doing their job, command staff at MPD suddenly unlock the doors at headquarters and let officers respond to the shooting scene so they can shut it down, collect evidence, and attempt to build a local criminal case against a federal agent...the same federal agent who had to shoot someone because MPD was not doing crowd control. It's really not that complicated and WHY is the St. Paul Police Federation and President Mark Ross the only union with stones enough to be complaining about it?

Here are some examples and it makes one wonder if the cops are not defending themselves because they are guilty:

Why it's practically impossible for Minneapolis cops to help ICE

How politics in Minneapolis are putting law enforcement at risk

Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovina has repeatedly alleged that local police are not cooperating and claimed that during their operations, they called Minneapolis police to help, but Minneapolis police failed to respond. Minneapolis police stated they have no record of the request. The Border Patrol Chief has also accused local officials of “collusion and corruption” with “anarchists.”

Bovino criticizes Minneapolis police for not helping ICE agents Wednesday, but department says they never asked

A day after Border Patrol Commander at Large Greg Bovino was seen in Minneapolis streets, he is calling out local police for not helping federal agents deal with protesters.

Bovino also criticized the Minneapolis Police Department for not helping during Wednesday's protest.

"The presence of protestors alone is not sufficient reason for MPD to respond where ICE activity is occurring," a spokesperson for the Minneapolis Police Department said.

Minnesota cops beg Walz, pols to let them work with ICE, say they could have prevented shootings

MINNEAPOLIS — The head of a major Twin Cities police union slammed local officials for blocking cooperation between local cops and ICE and Border Patrol agents – saying if they had been involved, “there would be no loss of life.”

St. Paul Police Federation President Mark Ross blamed state and local officials for the anti-ICE protest violence — saying that if highly trained cops were allowed to work with the feds, it likely would have prevented the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Is local police in Minneapolis not working with ice?

Minneapolis city leaders and the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) have publicly distanced themselves from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and said they will not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement operations, a stance reflected in revised MPD policy and repeated statements by Mayor Jacob Frey. Federal officials and some national lawmakers, however, say that this lack of cooperation has forced ICE to operate without typical local support and has created operational friction and public safety challenges.

Vance urges Minnesota law enforcement to work with federal immigration agents

MINNEAPOLIS — Vice President JD Vance on Thursday urged Minnesota's state and local law enforcement to work with federal immigration enforcement agents. During a brief visit to Minneapolis, Vance accused the city's police department of refusing to help protect federal agents during enforcement actions and asked them to help "lower the temperature and lower the chaos."

The vice president's visit came amid a surge of immigration enforcement in and around Minnesota’s largest city that led to the fatal shooting of Renee Good in early January and ongoing clashes with protesters.

"If an ICE agent is being assaulted by a far-left agitator, you should actually help them," Vance said at a news conference shortly after meeting with officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. "That's what happens in nearly every jurisdiction, red or blue, in the United States of America. The reason it hasn't happened here is because the local authorites have been told (to) stand down."
